9 - 10 MAY 2026 | LUMUT: UPNM participated in the Retreat Session of the Honourable Minister of Higher Education with Public Universities and University-Owned Companies, aimed at reinforcing strategic direction, governance, and the university’s revenue generation agenda.

This session brought together university leadership, university-owned enterprises, and officials from the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) to deliberate on the future of the nation's higher education landscape.
UPNM was represented by Lt Gen Datuk Wira Arman Rumaizi bin Hj Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, alongside representatives from UPNM Holdings Sdn Bhd, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), the Bursar, and the Strategic Business Unit (SBU).

6 MAY 2026 | UPNM: Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) today convened its Board of Directors (LPU) Meeting No. 2/2026. The meeting, conducted in a highly productive atmosphere, was chaired by Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Azman bin Syed Ibrahim, Chairman of the UPNM Board of Directors.

The meeting serves as a pivotal platform in reinforcing the university’s strategic direction towards excellence in higher education, leadership, and national defence.

28 - 29 APRIL 2026 | INDONESIA: From Malaysia to Yogyakarta, UPNM students brought more than just a programme; they carried the spirit of leadership, inspiration, and hope.

Utilising the E.F.G (Education, Fun, Guide) approach, nearly 400 children from MI Daarul Ulum Sinar Melati and Panti Asuhan Bima Bhakti were engaged through interactive activities, creative games, and motivational sessions conducted by students from UPNM, Universitas Teknologi Yogyakarta, and Universitas Ahmad Dahlan.

 

The impact of UPNM students was evident as they stepped forward as facilitators, mentors, and "little ambassadors" for the nation, spreading the values of knowledge, humanity, and volunteerism across borders.

This is more than just community service. This is the true identity of UPNM students.

20 – 24 APRIL 2026 | PHILIPPINES: A delegation from UPNM, led by Lt Gen Datuk Hj Abdul Halim bin Hj Jalal (Rtd), Senior Fellow of the Centre for Defence and International Security Studies (CDISS), attended the Track II Network of ASEAN Defence and Security Institutions (NADI) Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Retreat.

Themed “Mapping Defense Industrial Networks: Ensuring Regional Synergy and Secure Supply,” the meeting serves as a crucial platform for ASEAN member states to coordinate defence industrial cooperation, specifically in strengthening secure, sustainable, and resilient supply chains.

 
 
 

UPNM contributed significantly through the presentation of a policy paper titled “Defence Demand in Southeast Asia: Preparing for Uncertainty in the Indo-Pacific,” which examines defence requirements within the increasingly volatile Indo-Pacific landscape.

This participation underscores UPNM’s role as a regional strategic think-tank, aligned with the aspirations of the National Defence Industry Policy (DIPN) to bolster defence industrial capabilities and Malaysia’s strategic relations within ASEAN.

26 APRIL 2026 | PUTRAJAYA: The top management of UPNM attended the Malaysia MADANI Scholars Forum (Series 11), organized by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), which addressed the topic “Muslim Unity in Times of Geopolitical Crisis.”
 
 
 
The forum was moderated by the Honorable Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia. UPNM’s participation reflects its steadfast commitment to engaging in strategic national and international discourse, aimed at understanding geopolitical dynamics and their implications for leadership and security.

23 APRIL 2026 | MITEC: Beyond the figures lies the story of children raised in families dedicated to safeguarding the nation's security.

Through the DSA & NATSEC Asia Graduate Fund, a total of 48 underprivileged UPNM students have received financial assistance for the 2025/2026 Academic Session.

 

 

The symbolic cheque presentation was made to the Vice-Chancellor of UPNM, Lt Gen Datuk Wira Arman Rumaizi bin Hj Ahmad, during the Closing Ceremony of DSA & NATSEC Asia 2026, witnessed by the Minister of Defence, YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

For the recipients, this aid is more than just financial support; it is an inspiration to move forward, carrying the hopes of families who consistently sacrifice for the country.

This is not merely a contribution, but a legacy passed from those who protect the nation to the generation that will inherit that responsibility.

23 APRIL 2026 | MITEC: Through the forum “Shaping The Future Force: AI and Cybersecurity as the Vanguard of Digital Defence,” UPNM has reinforced its leadership in driving strategic dialogue regarding the nation's digital defence preparedness at DSA & NATSEC Asia 2026.

The Minister of Defence, YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, emphasized that national defence is a collective responsibility to ensure that the sovereignty, peace, and stability of the nation remain preserved.

 
 
 

In alignment with this vision, the Vice-Chancellor of UPNM, Lt Gen Datuk Wira Arman Rumaizi bin Hj Ahmad, highlighted the university’s commitment to nurturing defence talent who are not only technologically literate but are also capable of applying such expertise in the defence of the nation.

UPNM does not merely develop knowledge; it builds the capabilities that define national readiness.

22 APRIL 2026 | MITEC: Through Collabsphere 2: Strategic ICP – Bridging Local Capability and Global Expertise Under The National Defence Industry Policy, themed Integrating CDIM and Global OEMs: A New Era of Technology Transfer, UPNM has positioned academia at the forefront of the National Defence Industry Policy (DIPN) agenda, bridging the gap between policy, industry, and expertise toward achieving true self-reliance.

The forum featured a keynote address by the Deputy Minister of Defence, who emphasized the vital importance of strategic collaboration in fortifying the nation's defence industry ecosystem. Simultaneously, the Vice-Chancellor of UPNM, Lt Gen Datuk Wira Arman Rumaizi bin Hj Ahmad, reaffirmed the university’s role as a primary driver within this ecosystem.

“UPNM is committed to serving as the key academic catalyst in this national agenda, bridging the divide between research, industry requirements, and defence technology needs,” he stated.
