What is APEL?

APEL stands for Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning, which is a mechanism for recognising learning or skills acquired through experience such as work, training, non-formal courses, and life experiences, rather than solely through formal education.

Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Access
For the purpose of gaining admission into programmes at various levels of the Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF).

APEL.C

Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Credit Transfer
For the purpose of credit transfer for courses within a programme of study based on prior learning experiences

APEL.Q

Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Academic Qualification
For the purpose of the award of academic qualifications at various levels of the Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF)

General Information on APEL.A

The UPNM APEL Assessment Centre offers two levels of APEL.A assessment, namely APEL.A Level 6 (admission into Bachelor’s degree programmes) and APEL.A Level 7 (admission into Master’s degree programmes under the coursework and mixed modes only)

APEL.A Assessment Process

ProcessThe APEL.A assessment process takes approximately three (3) months, depending on the candidate’s level of preparation.
